Any honest and clear
thinking person has to acknowledge that “Climate Change” exists. Honesty
and clear thinking should also be applied to understanding what the level of
influence that man has had on climate change.
The following post is
not an attempt to minimize the derogatory affect that man has had on our
ecosystem, but to provide additional information for consideration.
During the Maunder Minimum, (the period around 1645 to 1715) sunspots were exceedingly rare.
Edward Maunder and Gustav
Spörer published two papers in the late 1800’s noting that during a 28-year
period (1672–1699), within the Maunder Minimum, observations revealed fewer
than 50 sunspots. Compare these few
numbers with the typical 40000 – 50000 sunspots seen in more recent times.
Other extended
periods of “Minimum” sunspots include Homeric Minimum, Dalton
Minimum and the Spörer Minimum.
The Central England Temperature (CET) record is a meteorological dataset. A correlation
between low sunspot activity and cold winters in England has been analyzed
using the CET record.
Nothing stated in this article is intended to contradict the valid scientific evidence showing man as a significant contributor to the degradation of our ecosystem. I merely intended to provide additional information for consideration.
